Prof. Dr. Bernhard Bleyer

I studied Catholic theology in Regensburg and Cochabamba (Bolivia).

In 2007, I completed a doctorate in moral theology at the University of Regensburg on the subjecthood of the poor in Latin American liberation theology. Afterwards, I worked as a teacher at various high schools and an educational consultant at Caritas. I have also been Head of the Institute for Sustainability in Technology and Economics at the OTH Amberg-Weiden and worked as a lecturer at the Chair of Theological Anthropology and Value Orientation at the University of Regensburg.

In Spring 2018, I started working as professor of Applied Ethics and Sustainable Development in Health Science at the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology. I wrote my postdoctoral thesis (Habilitation) in moral theology at the Catholic Private University Linz (2019), which focusses on ethical issues in the practice of health care professions.

Since fall 2021, I have held the Chair of Theological Ethics in Passau, directing the Charity Studies and Values-Based Management program and the Institute for Applied Ethics in Business and Education.
