Teaching
The Chair provides instruction in the principles of comparative cultural analysis and cultural research, with a particular emphasis on European contexts. Students have the opportunity to expand their theoretical and methodological knowledge and to test it empirically through learning formats geared towards experimentation and practice. You can find the courses currently offered by our chair here.
Research
The Chair’s research is characterised by an inter- and transdisciplinary approach. Research topics include phenomena of cultural exchange, transfer, and transformation, which are also studied from a cultural-historical perspective. The focus lies on the socio-cultural dimensions of digital and analogue everyday practices, collective and individual identity constructions in different media, multiple cultural affiliations, and language ideologies.
