On June 13-14, 2025, an interdisciplinary workshop for young researchers entitled “Political Imagination(s) - between Democracy and Digitality” will take place at the University of Passau. The focus will be on the following questions: Can imagination and the power of imagination be used as a driving force to shape democratic institutions? Which imaginative potentials promote the development of which alternative institutions and infrastructures? How does digitality in turn change human imagination? Fundamental considerations on the concept of imagination, the relationship between democracy and imagination, as well as concrete examples will be discussed.
The workshop is part of the University of Passau's program for young researchers. The program includes two keynotes by Prof. Dr. Silvana Mandolessi (KU Leuven) and Dr. Sergej Seitz (Vienna) as well as presentations by five doctoral candidates and post-docs from the University of Passau. The workshop brings together perspectives and projects from applied ethics, political theory, philosophy, business informatics and cultural studies.
