All our courses in the core area of English language and cultural studies form part of the teacher training programmes with English as a teaching subject, as well as the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in European Studies, International Cultural and Business Studies, Communication in Digital Societies, Media and Communication, Language and Text Sciences, Semiotics of Texts and Culture, Geography: Culture, Environment and Tourism and Historical Studies.

The aim of our research is to contribute to a better understanding of → language as a sign system and communication system, as a cognitive medium and as a social institution → the evolution and variety of language, as well as its functions in various social, (inter-)cultural and media contexts → the multimodal construction of meaning → cultures (with an Anglo-American influenced background) → social media and digital communication
