Our courses in all core areas of English linguistics and at the intersection of linguistics and cultural studies are part of the teacher training programmes with English as a teaching subject, as well as of the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in European Studies, International Cultural and Business Studies, and further programmes across the humanities and social sciences.
Our research explores language as a system of signs, a means of communication, a cognitive medium, and a social institution. We study the development and variation of the English language, its functions in social, (inter)cultural, and mediated contexts, as well as multimodal forms of meaning-making.
