Research project by Dr. Zsofia Schnelbach
Working title: The concept of "Spiritual Care" in the field of gynecological psychosomatics in the Hungarian health care system.
Short description of the context: The research project deals with the question of to what extent the concept of "Spiritual Care" finds its way into the Hungarian health care system. At the same time, the question arises as to which elements of this concept are already established in health care. A special focus is placed on the area of gynecological psychosomatics.
Research question: To what extent should/can spiritual care form an elementary part of medical care? What tasks and options for action are associated with the implementation of Spiritual Care in the field of gynecological psychosomatics with special regard to crisis experiences?
Objective: The research project aims to focus attention on the importance of the perception of spiritual needs in everyday clinical practice. Through this, the handling of these needs can be reflected - be it care in the context of crisis-related experiences or self-care with regard to the professional staff.
Survey and evaluation methods: Conducting semi-structured interviews with experts and group discussion; structuring qualitative content analysis according to Kuckartz.
Research objects: In order to be able to answer the research question, it is essential to analyze the context to which the research question refers and in which the research is conducted. Thus, the characteristics and the current situation of the Hungarian health care system must be presented. Equally important is conceptual clarity, i.e., the precise contouring of the dimensions explored: How is spirituality defined? How can the concept of "spiritual care" be described? What personal and professional competencies are associated with the concept and how are they to be implemented in practice? The research project focuses on a selected area of health care. Thus, it is necessary to specify what is understood by crisis experiences in the field of gynecological psychosomatics in the context of the study.
