Our courses primarily explore topics related to British cultural and media landscapes from the Renaissance to the present day. They constitute a part of the teacher training programme for students focusing on English as a subject. Our courses are also incorporated in interdisciplinary bachelor’s and master’s programmes such as European Studies, International Cultural and Business Studies, Language and Text Sciences, Semiotics of Texts and Culture, and Historical Sciences.
Our research focuses on phenomena of productive reception. We investigate theories of adaptation, as well as their concrete manifestations. In addition to literary adaptations, we particularly examine transmedia storytelling, remakes, and historical fiction. Other key research areas include literature and AI, fairy tales, Bollywood as a cultural phenomenon, and the literature and cultural history of late Victorian Britain.
