With the new certificate programme "Digital Humanities", the University of Passau is meeting the increasing demand for graduates with skills at the interface between cultural studies and computer science. The programme gives students an insight into the various facets of the application and development of computer-based methods in cultural studies. This enables them to categorise the methods in the context of specific issues. At the same time, the courses on the certificate can also be credited towards many degree programmes.
The programme is aimed at students from all faculties. The 35 credit points can be collected during the entire degree programme at the University of Passau.
You are only expected to be confident in using a PC (application programmes). It is possible to join the study programme at any time. However, it is recommended that you start by attending the lecture "Digital Humanities I", which is offered in the winter semester.
After successful completion of the three areas "Digital Humanities Basics", "Digital Humanities Methods" and "Digital Humanities Models", the "Digital Humanities" certificate of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is awarded. All successfully completed courses, which may also have been attended as part of other degree programmes, are listed on the certificate.

At present, we cannot guarantee that all areas of the Digital Humanities certificate programme will be offered every semester. However, each area is guaranteed to be offered in either the winter or summer semester of a given year.
