The faculty board decides on the amount to be reimbursed depending on the funds available and the number of applications received.
The amount of reimbursement for accommodation costs is based on the Bavarian Travel Expenses Act (€90 per night). Only accommodation costs (excluding meals) for the working days on which the guest was actually working at the UP will be reimbursed. A maximum reimbursement limit of €1,000 applies.
The amount of reimbursement for travel expenses is limited to a maximum of €1,500, provided that second-class travel or the cheapest and most environmentally friendly alternative was chosen.
The professor submitting the application will receive a notice of approval from the Dean's Office specifying the amount of funding.
At the end of the stay, the settlement form signed by the guest must be submitted to the Dean's Office together with the original receipts for travel and accommodation. The Dean's Office will check the amount of the agreed funding and forward the documents to the Budget Department.
If the payments made by the University of Passau to the international guest do not exceed €3,000 in the entire calendar year of the visit, it is not necessary to provide a German tax identification number. In this case, the tax ID declaration must be signed and sent to the Dean's Office together with the settlement documents.
The aim of the programme is to support the professorships and chairs in concluding and intensifying strategic partnerships with international universities. These international collaborations are fundamental to the establishment of joint degrees, binational doctoral procedures and ensuring a smooth student exchange.
The continuous expansion of internationalization in teaching is a central component of the target agreements of the Bavarian universities.
If you are already working on a new international cooperation or would like to expand an existing partnership, the Visitin Programme PLUS offers you the opportunity to invite a guest from the partner university in order to promote cooperation through personal contact and also to offer colleagues in the faculty the opportunity to find points of contact with their professorship.
If you are not sure whether the programme is suitable for you or if you have any questions about the application process, please contact the Coordinator for International Affairs.
- The visit within the framework of the programme should serve strategic goals, such as establishing a double degree or similar partnerships that expand internationalisation in teaching. A plausible explanation of these goals is a prerequisite for approval.
- During the stay, a lecture and/or a round of talks with the faculty will take place, in which the guest will present the sending university and the possibilities for cooperation and, together with the inviting professor, the planned cooperation projects.
- Minimum duration of the stay: 10 consecutive calendar days, which should provide an opportunity to hold personal discussions and establish contacts.
- Any university lecturer from the Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies at the University of Passau is eligible to submit a proposal.
- Maximum amount: €2,500 Flat rate including travel allowance. The fee will only be transferred at the end of the stay after the agreed services have been rendered.
- The German tax identification number must be provided in order for the fee to be paid. The University's Welcome Centre will assist you with the application. Please enclose a copy of your passport with your application.
If the payments made by the University of Passau to the international guest do not exceed €3,000 in the entire calendar year of the visit, it is not mandatory to provide a German tax identification number. In this case, the tax-ID declaration must be signed and sent to the Dean's Office together with the accounting documents. - In accordance with export control guidelines, the export control office of the University must be contacted by the inviting professor prior to the visit of guests from third countries.
- Application deadlines: 30 November for the following summer semester and 31 May for the following winter semester. Approval will be granted after the deadline, once all applications have been collected. A maximum of one application per semester is eligible for funding.
- The host professor is primarily responsible for looking after the visiting scholar. The Welcome Centre provides support with accommodation and organising ZIM identification, Stud.IP access and a Campus Card.
- Applications and contracts are handled by the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies. The Dean's Office requests that applications be submitted in duplicate by the deadline.
